Missing 'Create or Connect your ORCID ID' / 'Authenticate your ORCID ID' links on users

What

Personal users do not see the links for ‘authorize to ORCID’ and/or ‘create or connect your ORICD ID’ on their profiles, despite the ORCID api credentials has been added to the Admin. section > Research Outputs > Import Sources > ORCID 

 

Why

This occurs when the  ‘ORCID Client ID’ field in the configurations in this other location here Admin. section > Integrations > ORCID > ORCID Credentials has been left blank or is invalid. The logic setup in Pure is set so that these links (‘authorize to ORCID’ and/or ‘create or connect your ORICD ID’ ) only show if this field is filled in. This is regardless of having valid ORCID credentials configured for ORCID Import. The credentials are required in both places. 

Insert your ORCID API client ID and Client Secret as follows:

  • Go to  Administrator > Integrations > ORCID > ORCID Credentials
  • Select API Type; if you are using ORCID Public API key select the API type: Public API, if you have a Member API key, select Member API. 
  • Save your changes 

Note: If you see the blank fields, but you are sure you've already added the ORCID Credentials here: Administrator > Integrations > ORCID > ORCID Credentials. Check if you may have enabled the ORCID Sandbox mode, then switch it off and you will see the credentials you already added.
