History and Comment vs. Audit Log

What

In order to see (recent) events for most content types, there's a History and Comments section. This holds a limited view of all actions done to the record. For a list of ALL actions, you need to go to the Audit log.

But what is shown in the History and comments field compared with the audit? In the table below you can check the differences:

History and comments Audit
Holds all actions for the content of the record. Typical by users or i.e. jobs that synchronisation metrics. Holds ALL actions for the record.
Visible by users with editing rights of the content Visible for Administrators only.
Can be toggled / expanded to list all relevant actions Must be searched for in the Audit section

Note

If the History and comments are missing entirely, then it might be because of data copy. Read more about this in History and Comments: Missing After an Upgrade
